Tarot may have derived from a common pub activity but there is no denying its potential power for an individual. Not in the esoteric lens of popular culture but as a medium through which to explore yourself and the world in a fresh and exciting way.  The deck I continue to create is truly special. It contains multitudes. Manifesting the essence of tarot through the process of devising and creating allowed me to delve deeper into a deeply resonant process, one that continues to grow in layers of understanding. By exploring my role as the creator, drawer, and interpreter within the existing frame of tarot I was guided on an exploration of sound, image, movement, collaboration, visual composition, reflective analysis, reckoning, and this is just the start . Engaging with my deck was flexible to allow both vulnerable reflection and also a more distant sense of witnessing. Tarot can be viewed as a companion to assist in chaotic or dumbstruck times both creatively and otherwise.

While tarot was my chosen route of adventure, it also speaks to the broader culture of tools that encourage a playful interaction with life: games. It is the junction of life’s questions and answers that leads to an absolute state of presence with all things considered. This is the first step to enhance any creative journey.  Just as devising benefits the absolute availability of the performer, tarot flourishes in a state of openness and honesty in balance with imagination and experimentation. It involves the entire body and mind with ease, reinstating that every creative process is equally aided by the fantastic and playful collision of what is done, and what is felt.
